STATE HOUSING INITIATIVE PROGRAM

S. H. I. P. is a program through which the state of Florida channels funds to counties and municipalities across the state for the purpose of enabling increased numbers of eligible individuals and families to enjoy homeownership.

Because the programs are administered locally the guidelines are somewhat different from county to county and for different cities. Generally, a requirement of receiving funds through S. H. I. P. is completion of a homebuyer education class. Buyers using the program will also need to be qualified to obtain mortgage financing through a residential lender.
